Depressed Elephant treated with CBD Oil
Erna the matriarch of a small group of elephants at Warsaw Zoo died leaving behind 3 mourning youngsters, one of which Fredzia struggled with stress and depression following Erna’s demise. Dr Czujkowska prescribed CBD oil hoping that it will alleviate the elephant’s anxiety and improve it’s relationships within the herd.
It has been claimed that it increases the production of mood effecting chemicals dopamine and serotonin. It has no psychoactive elements.
By measuring the cortisol levels they will be able to evaluate whether the CBD oil is working. For full story see The Independent
